I don't remember meeting Harriet except that once I moved to Dauphin 2 hours from her she was always inviting me to go along shopping or thrifting or just sit and visit. She gave me so many tips on cooking, baking, scrapbooking you name it she was more than willing to help. I enjoyed sitting downstairs in the basement watching whatever on TV and your dad Fred putting in his few comments. One of my favorites was "it only cost $5000 dollars to make your first card". We teased each other, and generally enjoyed a good time. If I was judging skating anywhere in SW Manitoba she found a reason for me to come a day early and visit, mostly the excuse was not to have to drive it all at once. I have missed her immensely. I went and saw her once in Rideau Park, as I had so much to tell her. Her memory of things was amazing. She would remember the tiniest of details. I was so lucky that she took me under her wing and we became friends.

We were so sorry to see that Harriet had passed away. We had seen her often at Rideau Park when we visited David's mum. I think the best way to describe Harriet is that she was a force & that you just went with her because you couldn't go against. I remember spending Christmas with your family the year that our mum was diagnosed with cancer just before Christmas as she was going for surgery just after. David remembers being on Vestrey with her & he was always trying to pull something over on her, sometimes it worked other times not!! Anyway, Harriet was a wonderful person who was constantly busy doing something whether it was for the church or for someone specific, she will be greatly missed.

I’m so saddened to hear of your Mother’s passing. She was an amazing person and a wonderful, much loved friend. Harriet made the simplest of life moments a memory. She always had ideas and plans of places to go, people to help, recipes to try, books to read, shows to watch, crafts or cards to make and where to get the best deals with double coupons. She knew and remembered everything. Danny and I often said, if we were ever on a trivia game show, Harriet would definitely be our “phone a friend”…….she would know the answer to any question. My daily life is blessed by all the ways she generously shared her insights, knowledge, laughter and love. I was blessed to call her my friend.
