When I was hired as a Sports Reporter at CKX TV (in the early 90's), no one welcomed me more to the team than Dean. Our love of baseball was something we talked about often (although we cheered for different teams).
As our lives took different paths, we didn't see each other all that much in recent years. However, when we did, it was like old times. I would attend a Wheat Kings game ... and I would hear Dean before I would see him.
"The Phillies suck ...". I would look around and there he was ... "Hey Paully, how are you". I will miss that "Deano"!

Dear Janet and the wonderful family you and Dean have created, Nothing we can say can change the past so please accept our most heartfelt condolences and hugs to all of you. Jarrod thoroughly enjoyed the time he spent with Dean at coca-cola and I always knew a chat at the rink would turn into full on visit with Dean. He was never at a loss for kind and humorous words. Take care with love from, Jarrod, Michelle, Brooklyn and Callie Franklin

Dear Janet, Nolan and Tanner. My deepest sincere condolences to all of you. I am very sorry that I cannot make the funeral due to family circumstances. My thoughts and prayers are with you at this most difficult time. Dean was always the type of friend that you didn't need to stay in constant touch with, but when you did run into him, it was like you were never apart. A genuine person who cared, respected others and always looked for the positives in life. That's why he was loved by so many. People like him are increasingly hard to find. Janet, I remember Dean and I sitting at your kitchen table tabulating hockey pools while you chased young Tanner and Nolan around the house. It was a time before cell phones and people really talked to each other. I learned then what a good person Dean was. I will miss him deeply. I am so very sorry for your loss. Rest in peace my friend.

The loss of of Dean has affected me deeply, so I can only imagine the pain your family is feeling.
As long as I have been working in Westman, Dean has been a part of that professional community. Whenever there was something anyone in my professional or personal life needed in a print/project capacity, I would say "don't worry, I know a guy." He always came through and could solve whatever problem or chaos I threw his way, and we worked together like colleagues. He always asked about my family, and I always knew about his - I know how much he loved all of you. I miss him deeply.

To Dean's wife and sons and families also to Donna and Dean's, brothers and families. I so remember Dean as a young boy as our boys were just a little under Donna and George's boys and when their boys out grew their clothes, Donna and George would pack them up and give them to our boys. Our Dean, Michael, and Vaughan would be so happy to get them.We would go and visit Donna and George in Reston and our boys and theirs would play together and hang out while George and Harvey would sing.Donna and I would join in sometimes. Our visits were so enjoyable. Those times will never be forgotten. With all our love and prayers to you all at such a sad time. Harvey and Linda Fleger and Family.

It was always very clear how proud he was of his family, as he always talked about their accomplishments and what they were doing. Dean will be missed by many but of course mostly by his family. Dean and I worked at 880 CKLQ in the 80s. We shared many a laugh and played softball over the 2 years there together. Fast forward 30 plus years later when I moved home and Dean learned I was working in Brandon, he stopped by and brought me a Tim's welcome home package. We chin wagged for a couple of hours, and then as I again, now working for Q Country 91-5, he would drop off calenders from Leech Printing and we would reminisce about all the characters we worked with in broadcasting. Dean was a quick wit, had a big heart for his friends and so much love when he talked about Janet and his family. He will be so missed. Deepest sympathy to Janet and Dean's kids and their families and both their extended families as well.
