Obituary of Raymond Spuzak
Raymond Harry Spuzak
Our dear cousin, Raymond Spuzak, son of Harry Spuzak and Julia LaRiviere, passed on (to new adventures), at his most recent home (of 4 mo.), in Brandon on Oct. 22.
As his father was the youngest of 11 children, it is not surprising that Raymond was #22 of 24 first cousins, Naturally, he has survived the majority of them.
Due to his severe physical (and mental, we presume) disabilities, he has been under government care, since his birth 62 ½ yr. ago.
He spent his first 10 yr. at the St. Amant Center in Winnipeg. For the majority of his life (52 yr.), he lived at the Man. Developmental Center in Portage la Prairie (where I got to know him).
His cousin, Ron Herneshen (#14), was his Substitute Decision Maker for Personal Care, for the last 20 years. As far as M.D.C., with which I was familiar, is concerned, I have consistently rated their care of him as excellent. Some years, I was amazed that up to 10 professionals would attend his annual meeting. I only hope the future private contractors can approach the care that M.D.C. gave.
After the government- ordered autopsy (in Winnipeg), his body will be returned to Brandon for cremation. The urn with his ashes will be placed at Rosewood Memorial Gardens (Hwy 1A & Gordon Rd.), a few km west of Brandon.
