Obituary of John Alexander West

WEST: After a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by his loved ones, John Alexander West peacefully stepped from this life and into eternity during the early morning hours on November 27, 2014 at the age of 60 years. John leaves to mourn his partner, Irene (Family) son and daughter-in-law Ryan and Roxanne, grandsons Keenan and Drayden. Mother and father Dave and Vera, brothers Leslie (Dianne) and Cecil, sisters Shirley, Vivian (Richard), brother-in-law Harold Jr., aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and many friends, too numerous to mention. John was predeceased by his sister Betty-Jean Alberts, brother-in-law Harold Sr. Alberts, Uncle Jim West, grandparents Cecil and Gladys West, Charles and Armilda Keck. John was born on September 19, 1954 in Dauphin, MB. At a young age, John started out his career with CN Rail working as a water boy, eventually fulfilling his goal in becoming a conductor, working most of his career in Northern Manitoba and Brandon where he eventually retired in August of 2009. After retirement, he started his own business video-recording local events and activities in the Brandon area. Over a course of time, his business began to expand while investing most of his time and energy travelling to many communities throughout Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Ontario and also different areas throughout the states to record Gospel Services. He enjoyed many things in life such as fishing, camping, building project muscle vehicles, mud bogging, travelling, watching his grandsons play hockey, making daily trips to Tim Hortons which he considered his "second home" to hang out with his coffee buddies, but most of all, he loved spending time with his son and family, always looking forward to their next visit. John was a man who just simply loved life and lived his life to the fullest. He touched many hearts and will certainly be remembered by his character, always telling a joke or pulling a prank on someone. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. A celebration of John's life will be held on Monday, December 1st, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the Bethel Christian Assembly, 440 Richmond Avenue, Brandon, Manitoba. Donations may be made in John's memory to the BRHC Foundation, (Cancer Services), 150 McTavish Avenue East, Brandon, Manitoba, R7A 2B3.
