Obituary of Terence 'Terry' Patrick MacDonald

MacDonald: On April 19th, 2016, Terence Patrick MacDonald passed away suddenly. Terry was born on May 27, 1947 in Glace Bay, Nova Scotia, and grew up in Coulsdon, Surrey, England. He moved back to Canada in 1979, married Lianne Hansen in 1982, and in 1983 his son was born, followed by his daughter in 1985. In 2009 he retired from the Keystone Motor Inn and in 2014 he visited his birthplace in Nova Scotia with his son. Terry was a glazier, carpenter, and maintenance man. He enjoyed sports, especially NASCAR; he was Dale Earnhardt's biggest fan. In 1980 he joined the Rapid City "Gear Jammers" Stock Car Club with his brother. He enjoyed reading, crosswords, and playing games with his family. Terry's favourite pastime was just chatting and cracking jokes. He had a wonderful ability to see the funny side of a sad situation and make you laugh, just when you needed a good chuckle the most. Terry is survived by his son, Matthew MacDonald; daughter, Janna MacDonald; and their mother, Lianne (Jim) Christie; his brother, Brian (Chanel) MacDonald; sister, Fran (Sam) Gibbons; sister-in-law, Diane (Alf) Denny; nieces and nephews, Trish (Rob) Greenwood, Jennifer (Ward) Greer, Sean (Amanda) MacDonald, Warren Duthie, Roy (Kim) Gibbons, and Laura Gibbons; and his great-nieces and -nephews. He is predeceased by his parents Roy and Mary MacDonald. A Memorial will take place on Sunday, May 1st at 2:00- 3:00 p.m. in Brockie Donovan's reception room (entrance is at the south side), followed by a Celebration of Life at Georgie's Lounge (Keystone Motor Inn). In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Society of Manitoba.
