Obituary of Pat Allen

ALLEN: Patricia Ann passed away peacefully with family by her side on Friday, July 22, 2016 in Brandon, Manitoba at the age of 65 years. Patricia was the first born of twin daughters to Stan and Winnifred Biggs on October 7, 1950 in Luton, England with twin sister, Jennifer, arriving shortly afterwards. At the age of six, both Pat and Jennifer moved with their parents from England to Canada; arriving to a blistery winter welcome in Brandon, Manitoba in March 1957. When the girls were 12 years old, the family returned to England to visit with family and friends. Upon their return to Canada they were given the news that an addition to the family would be added and Jackie was born in 1962, completing their family. While growing up, Pat attended various schools in Brandon and graduated from Vincent Massey High School in 1968. It was during these school years that she met her future husband, Craig Allen. After graduation Pat began working for MTS; until she decided to return to England for an extended visit with family and friends. After returning back to Brandon, she began her employment with the Brandon General Hospital working at the switchboard. On January 20, 1973, Pat and Craig were married and in 1974 the happy couple were blessed with the birth of their first child and son, Chris. In 1979, they were blessed once more and welcomed their daughter, Erin, which completed their family. After a family vacation to England in 1984, Pat and Craig made the decision to live abroad, returning to Pat's roots in England permanently. The family packed up and moved to Rushden, England in 1986 and returned back to Brandon two years later in 1988. It was at this time that Pat began her employment with IGA (now Sobeys); which over the years became her loving work family. She started at IGA as a bagger and worked her way up over the years, ending as the store's Deli Manager until her retirement earlier this year in March of 2016. Pat was predeceased by the love of her life husband, Craig, who passed away earlier this year on March 13, 2016. She leaves to mourn both her children: Chris (Melissa) Allen and granddaughters Abby and Tori; daughter Erin (Rob) Meagher and granddaughters Kate and Sophie Meagher. Also to mourn are: sisters Jennifer (John) Kennedy; Jackie (Glen) Johnston; nephew Phil (Carrie) and children Kally and Carter; niece Wendy (Donnie) and children Landon and Olivia; as well as in-laws; extended family, both in Canada and England; her many friends; and of course, her adopted Sobeys family. A Celebration of Pat's Life was held on Friday, July 29, 2016 at Brockie Donovan Chapel.
