Obituary of Pina Adamo

ADAMO: Pina; August 23, 1937- August 14, 2016. Mom was born on August 23, 1937 in Celico, Cosenza, Italy; immigrating to Canada in 1967 with her husband Frank and their children Anne, Cindy and Peter. Mom worked at the Prince Edward Hotel, The Sewing Factory, McKenzie Seeds and Hillcrest Personal Care Home; where her love of cooking and baking became her passion for her family and her residents. If there was a resident's birthday, Mom would make their day by making a cake for them. Mom did everything for her children and when she started working days, it would break her heart to leave us at daycare. So much so, that she gave up her day job and starting working nights, just to be home with us. Family life was the #1 priority to our Mom. Mom was diagnosed with Metastatic Melanoma in February, 2016. When her new doctor of only seven months sent her for tests and to see specialists in Winnipeg at the Health Science Centre, she had surgery. In July we were told the cancer had spread, and it was too late. On August 6th, we were told that Mom had Stage 4 Metastatic Melanoma and didn't have long. We, as a family, were all shocked to hear the news. She is predeceased by her mother Raffaella and father Alberto; brothers Aldo, Ugo and Silvio; as well as her son-in-law Gary. Mom is lovingly survived by her husband, Frank, and children: Anne; grand-daughter Maria; Cindy (Jacques); grandson Alexandre and Peter (Dru). Her (family): sisters Anita and Maria and their spouses, Guisseppe and Espidito and nieces and nephews. Special thanks to the nurses on the 2nd and 3rd floor Palliative Care, Assiniboine Centre and the 4th floor, General; special thanks to Dr. Benadé and Dr. Plewes. A Funeral Service will be held at the Brockie Donovan Chapel, 332-8th Street, on Thursday, August 18, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. Donations in memory of Mom may be made to the Brandon Regional Health Centre Foundation, 150 McTavish Avenue East, Brandon, Manitoba, R7A 2B3. Mom, you will hold a special place in our hearts, you will be sadly missed by your children, grandchildren and husband. When someone you love becomes a Memory, the Memory becomes a Treasure.
