Obituary of Craig Richard Harley

HARLEY: It is with deep sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of Craig Richard Harley on Sunday, June 18, 2017 at the age of 57 years. Craig was born in Flin Flon, Manitoba and resided most of his life in Brandon, Manitoba. Craig had an intense passion for skiing and cycling during his youth. He was very intelligent, enjoyed learning, and attended Brandon University and received an Honours Degree majoring in Political Science and History. Craig was self-employed as a taxi driver in Brandon for many years and enjoyed interacting and having lively discussions with his customers. Craig had every intention of travelling the world. In his adult youth, he was struck with mental illness and addiction challenges. Craig always kept a special place in his home and in his heart for his nephews and nieces. Craig never lost his sense of humour. Right up until the last month of his life, Craig always had a passion to undertake intellectual debates and explore the roots of Brandon and area. Craig is predeceased by his parents Donald Harley and Corinne Bourk. He leaves behind his siblings Dwight Harley (Carol) from Calgary, Lynne Harley (Garry King) from Saskatoon, and Mona Lancaster (David) from Toronto. He also leaves behind eight nieces and nephews: Kathleen, Jordan, Mitchell, Zachary, Danielle, Nicole, Mathew and Brooklyn. A Memorial Service will be held at Brockie Donovan Chapel, 332-8th Street on Friday, July 28, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. We would like to thank the Mental Health community for supporting Craig throughout the years. We have a deep gratitude for the AA fellowship that demonstrated unconditional acceptance of Craig on his journey.
