Bryce Waldon

Obituary of Bryce Vincent Waldon

WALDON: Bryce Vincent Waldon, loving husband to Caryn Waldon (nee Edwards), father-to-be to baby Waldon, beloved son of Donald and Loretta, loving brother to Clint, his wife Erin and uncle to Georgia and Beau, passed away in a tragic accident on December 2, 2017. Bryce was born on May 13, 1984 in Brandon, MB and grew up in the Rapid City area attending school at Rapid City Elementary and Elton Collegiate in Forrest, MB. As a toddler, we remember his blond curly hair and his mischievous grin. His older brother Clint was his hero. Throughout his schooling and while playing hockey, baseball or curling, he established lasting friendships with many people and always had a smile and a comment or action that would make them laugh and smile too. He was a hard worker, skilled at welding, machining, electrical work and generally having the ability to repair most everything on the farm and in the home. His work ethic was always evident at his various employers including Smitty's Restaurant, Cando Contracting, Sunrise Framing, Celtic Power and Machining with the Reynold's family, work experiences with Cal Goetz Electric and MillcoSteel, working with his brother Clint and Brandon Current Electric and of course the love of farming shone through while working on the family farm, Wal-D Farms Ltd. At home on the farm, no project was too big for Bryce; he loved tinkering in the shop. Bryce was involved in his community particularly at the Community Complex/hockey arena and managed the Senior Hockey team there. In recent years he also played hockey with the Souris Flyers. Bryce enjoyed playing ball with the Glanton Guzzlers when he was able to get his work done in time. Bryce had the motto "make hay while the sun shines" and he always made sure to get up early committed to finish his work before seeing any of his friends. He loved to go to Dauphin Countryfest and the campsite shared with his friends was usually a happening place complete with Bryce's famous apple crisp! The Rapid City Queen's Hotel was also a favourite meeting place and his big smile lit up the room. Bryce loved a good home cooked meal and always appreciated an invite for lunch or dinner at Mom and Dad's and the meals on wheels delivered to the field in busy times. Many stories have been shared about Bryce's cake decorating and those memories will make us smile. Bryce loved children and enjoyed playing and giving tractor rides and exploring the farm with his niece and nephew, young cousins and children who visited the farm. Caryn convinced him that they should get a dog, so when a prospect became available Bryce agreed as long as it was free. Chief Victor Newman Waldon became the farm dog and Caryn and Bryce were busy training the puppy. Bryce and Caryn were married on April 15, 2017 in Brandon and shortly after, they were excited to learn that they are expecting a baby in February 2018. A gift of a chicken coop started "Waldon Poultry" with a few meat birds and ten laying hens. Life was going great for Bryce and he was so happy and busy building their dream home. It is so sad that we are writing this obituary, Bryce would have been a wonderful Father. Bryce is survived by his wife Caryn; parents Don & Loretta; Grandmother Marion Waldon; brother Clinton (Erin) Waldon and their children Georgia and Beau; Caryn's parents Jack & Claudene Edwards and her brothers Jeffrey and Marc Edwards as well as aunts, uncles and cousins from the Waldon, Bromley, Edwards and Beuselinck extended families. Bryce was predeceased by Grandparents William Waldon; Clifford and Gretta Bromley. A Celebration of Bryce's Life was held at Central United Church on Saturday, December 9th, 2017 with Pastor Gerry Harms and Rev. Barb Jardine officiating. If desired, donations in memory of Bryce may be made to the RM of Oakview "Rapid City Community Complex in Memory of Bryce", Box 130 Rapid City, MB, R0K 1W0 or to the Baby Waldon Trust Fund at Royal Bank Branches until January 7th, 2018
