Obituary of Audrey Winnifred Hanlon

HANLON: Audrey Hanlon October 1, 1924 – March 21, 2018. A wonderful person left us this past Wednesday, March 21, 2018 and we will truly miss her. Audrey will lovingly be remembered by her sons Ward (Marlene) and Glen (Keri), grandchildren Trace (Ali), Jackson and great granddaughter Avery. Audrey was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba. She met her husband John during World War II and they were married in Winnipeg shortly after. They moved to Brandon in 1949. She worked many years for JJ Coleman- Customs Brokers until her retirement in 1984. Audrey loved to entertain friends, be the first one on the dance floor, sing all the oldies and cherish the holidays (Christmas was her favourite). Most importantly she loved being with family. Along the way she developed a large gathering of friends and acquaintances many of whom she met through her P.E.O. Sisterhood, Circle 8 Square Dance Club and the Kiwanis and A.C.T. Ladies Auxiliary. She was quite the lady who approached life everyday with energy and enthusiasm. Even in her later years those who knew her well were fully aware of her feistiness. The family would like to thank all the staff at the Assiniboine Centre. Brandon and area are very fortunate to have such a dedicated and compassionate team caring for seniors in the community. A Celebration of Audrey's Life will be held at Brockie Donovan Chapel, 332-8th Street, on Thursday, July 5, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Doug Craig of Central United Church officiating. Donations in memory of Audrey may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba, 4B-457-9th Street, Brandon, MB, R7A 4A9 or charity of choice.
