STANLEY: Alfred (Alf) George Stanley passed away peacefully with family by his side at the age of 69 years. He will be greatly missed by his wife Janis Stanley, children Carla (Evan) Dyck, Scott (Tina) Stanley, Jenny (Pete) Semchyshyn, Brad (Amber) McNiven, Nichole Herman and Dawn Bednorski, 12 grandchildren, 6 siblings and their spouses, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents William Alfred Stanley and Ethel Lydia Stanley (neé Hill), sister Lane Carter, sister-in-law Sally Campbell, brother-in-law Glenn Campbell and nephew Christopher Onischuck. Alf was born in Dauphin, Manitoba on January 20, 1949. The family moved to the Glenella area when he was six and he attended Camperdown School, Glenallan School and Kellwood High School. He obtained his power engineering licence at Red River College in 1973. In his professional life, Alf enjoyed his years at both the Keystone Centre in Brandon and with Century 21 Westman Realty. He retired from real estate in 2012 and returned to Brandon from Onanole. He was very involved in his community and different organizations including the Westman Wilderness Club which he enjoyed greatly. Alf looked at life as one big adventure and he made sure his life was just that. Alf loved to travel to new places, to see new things and meet new people. Everywhere he went Alf made a point of meeting new people and they all loved him. He loved the outdoors and nature and spent much time enjoying it. He canoed and camped, snowshoed and skied. He hiked the Rocky Mountains and travelled from coast to coast all over North America. When he met Janis he found the perfect adventure partner and the woman he had been looking for all his life. They had many wonderful travels and adventures together. Alf was best of friends with his two oldest children Scott and Carla. All the children and grandchildren thereafter and all of their spouses too, considered Alf a close friend. He was interested in the lives of each and every member of his far reaching family and he took the time to reach out to them all regularly. Alf loved people and people loved Alf. He will be missed by many.
