Olive "Doreen" Fowler

Obituary of Olive "Doreen" Fowler

FOWLER: The family sadly announces the sudden passing of Doreen Fowler at the Brandon Regional Health Centre on Saturday, March 9, 2019 at the age of 86 years. Doreen was born to Polly and Earl Lund in Elkhorn MB where she also received her education. In her late teens, she was employed at the Elkhorn Creamery followed by a brief career at the CIBC in Brandon. Doreen met the love of her life, Glen Fowler in Elkhorn where they later married in November 1952. They lived in Virden where all five of their children were born. The family moved to Brandon in 1966 where she resided until her death. Doreen and Glen enjoyed travelling and camping with their family and later in life, were fortunate to visit many parts of the world. They spent many winters in Hawaii and later in Mesa, AZ. Summers were spent with family and friends (with no shortage of fun) at Oak Lake as well as Clear Lake. Doreen was her family's biggest cheerleader. She attended their many events, near and far, be it a sporting event or celebrating an academic achievement. She played a big role in her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren's lives. She was also a long time supporter of the Brandon Wheat Kings. She also spent many volunteer hours over the years at the BRHC and Nearly New Shop. Doreen was a kind and caring woman who had a great sense of humor and was known to pull the odd practical joke or two. She will be missed by all who knew her. Doreen was predeceased by her husband Glen and her brother Blair Lund. She is survived by her family: Son Brian (Lois) Fowler, (children Rhonda (Darren) Ritchie – Quinn & Nolan; Rob (Ericka) Fowler – Carson & Aiden), daughter Brenda (Bryan) Williams, (children Jen (Jeff) Shuttleworth – Sam & Ben; Janine (Doug) Fischer – Charlie), son Grant (Cathy) Fowler, daughter Sharon (Brian) Shannon, daughter Susan (Tim) Dekker, (children Brooke Gripich - Kaleb & Rochelle; Boyd, Kelsey (Tom) & Kristin). She is also survived by siblings Marie (Roger) Nowlan, Reg (Shari) Lund, Roy (Nancy) Lund & Ron (Glynis) Lund as well as many nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Doreen's life took place at Brockie Dovovan Chapel on Thursday, March 14, 2019 with Rev Doug Craig officiating.
