To my friend Mark- an absolute gem of a guy. He was a true team player, always willing to help out wherever he was needed. Whether it was sharing a joke, sharing a recipe, discussing respiratory therapy options, or helping with an arterial line insertion, Mark was a master. He was warm to everyone alike- patients, or staff. He had a deep respect for everyone and everything. I will miss him deeply. He will remain "one of the good guys". Gloria McKnight

Mark was a one of a kind man. There are literally no words to explain how much he changed my life - he inspired me to go back to school and become a Respiratory Therapist. He stood by me and helped me get through sleepless nights many times, always encouraging and reminding me "C's get degrees!" LOL God I will miss that awesome smile and one of a kind laugh!! My deepest sympathies to you all, family & friends alike! Heartbroken.

I remember Mark when he was a small boy playing hockey with our son Rick. Because of that sport they became good friends. The next time I saw Mark he was working in the hospital in Respiratory which I did not know until he came to A3 in the Assiniboine mod 2 where we had our ventilator patients. He would come whenever we called him. The first time he came I thought "oh my is he ever tall," and he looked familiar but not quite sure, the beard fooled me. So I introduced myself and he said "I know you don't you recognize me." This fellow was 6 feet tall or more and I am 5 ft 2. As I looked up to him I said no. "Mark Ellis, I played hockey with Rick." Well my first thought was you sure grew tall, I don't the remember your dad being that tall ha ha. We really had a great time catching up. I loved it when ever he came, just to watch him work on the patient or watch his face go red when I asked him some girly questions. My heart melted when I heard Mark had cancer, knowing him he would give it all he got. No words can express the pain you and your family are going through and my prayer for you is that God will give you the strength, comfort and healing for the coming days ahead with your wonderful memories of Mark. Mothers and fathers hold their children's hands for a short while, but hold them it their hearts forever. Our deepest condolences. Harvey & Wendy Wood and family

I remember Mark when he played hockey with our son Rick in Kenton, they were very much involved in the sport and great players. The next time I saw Mark was at the hospital working, he grew so tall or I got shorter. He actually looked good with the beard although I never recognized him, so silly me introduced myself not knowing he knew who I was. Guess hockey players never forget a mother who yells a lot for the kids in hockey. He was very proud to have a career in respiratory. Everytime he came to A3 mode two, he give a lesson on the ventilator even though I had taken the course. I just enjoyed talking to him, he made time for us. Harry & Connie, no words can express the pain you are going through and my prayer for you all is that God gives you strength, healing, comfort and peace during this painful time. Mark has left many memories and I know they will provide you comfort in the coming days. May he Rest In Peace, Wendy and Harvey Wood and family

Mark and I worked together in ICU. We shared many laughs and tears. My favourite memory of Mark was when a patient asked if I was Marks wife. He had over heard us giving each other a hard time. When the patient asked Mark instantly turned red, stopped chuckling and said "she is way older than me...ahhhh NO!" I instantly started laughing because poor Mark look like he swallowed a bug. He always made my work day better. When Chris was sick Mark visited and joked with both of us. My hope is that he is in Chris's stadium having a beer and sharing a laugh at our expense! I will miss you Mark! My deepest condolences to Mark's family.
