MacDEARMID: George Duncan MacDearmid, passed away suddenly on December 15, 2010. George was born on April 17, 1932 at his parent's residence on Franklin Street. George will be lovingly remembered by his wife Luella (Lue); daughter Georganne (Denis) Bisson, grandchildren Tanya, Michael and Jeremy Bridges; son Ken Holder (Jo-Ann Pasklivich-Holder), grandchildren Jorry and Kendry; son Brian (Michelle) Holder, grandchildren Tyson and Justin. George is also survived by his brother Will (Isabelle), sister-in-law Muriel Dennis, as well as nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Garfield and Dorothy MacDearmid, his brother Glen and his sisters Dorothy and Vonda, as well as niece Debbie. George received his education in Brandon. He was employed by Maple Leaf Services in Shilo and was involved in opening stores in Churchhill and Saskatchewan. He was also the Store Manager at Economart and later worked for McGavin Foods. George loved life and especially his grandchildren. He enjoyed going to see them play their sports, whether hockey, soccer, baseball or dancing. He attended any school function. George was especially pleased to see his grandson, Jeremy, graduate in Souris as well as his granddaughter, Tanya, working in a career she wanted as a corrections officer. Everyday he was up to Humpties for coffee; Wednesday it was with the retired jail guards and once a month with the ex-Shilo people. Everyday you could find him walking at the Corral Centre in the Safeway Store. A Celebration of George's life was held at Brockie Donovan Chapel on Monday, December 20, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. John Dolloff of St. Mary's Anglican Church officiating. Interment followed at the Brandon Cemetery. A time of fellowship and refreshments was held at the North End Community Centre. Active pallbearers were his nephew Robert MacDearmid and his grandchildren, Tanya and Jeremy Bridges, Tyson and Justin Holder, Jorry and Kendry Holder. If friends desire, donations in memory of George may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 415-1st Street, Brandon, MB, R7A 2W8 or the Diabetes Association, 727B – 10th Street, Brandon, MB R7A 4G7 or to a charity of one's choice. The family wishes to thank the doctors at the Brandon Clinic, Jinny, Constable Russ Patterson and Sonny Moroz at Brockie Donovan for the kindness and guidance offered during this difficult time.
