We are very sorry to see Les passed away. He was always so nice to us at Elliots stable and all the years of schooling shows. Dorothy and Les were always present in the stands and that was dedication! Sincerely Heather and Brent Hrymak

Dear Linda, Barry, and Families.
Please know that I am very touched and honoured by the opportunity I had to participate on the Police Honour Guard during the service for your Dad today.
Inspector Les White was instrumental through his participation in the hiring, influencing, and opening of policing career opportunities for people like me and many others who served with the Brandon Police Service and elsewhere.
Additionally, I enjoyed many social times with your Dad and Mum both professionally but also personally through our mutual interest in horses.
Your Dad always encouraged me for which I will always be grateful, even after I left the Brandon Police Service for other career paths including joining and retiring from the Ontario Provincial Police.
In reflection, his impact on my professional life allows me to enjoy the fruits of my service till this very day.
You all have my deepest condolences knowing you’ve lost a well respected Father.
Sincerely,
Gary Potter, Detective #8421
Ontario Provincial Police (Retired)

Linda, Barry and Family - Your dad was the best. Wow so many beautiful memories that I will always hold dear. Les and Dorothy supported and encouraged all of us at the barns during our teenage years to strive to do our best. They truly enjoyed showing their ponies at the summer and winter fairs and enjoyed all of the many horse association dances. So many happy memories. Working with your dad at Brandon Police was an honour. He was well respected and loved and held a high standard throughout the force. He always encouraged us to be our best. I loved my little visits with Les and Dorothy at the farm and later at Fairview. They have both seen and experienced so much and I loved listening to their stories. I want you to know that when asked who has made a difference in your life that your dad is always on my list. My thoughts and prayers are with you all during this time and always. Les will be missed by all who knew him.

Saddened to learn of the passing of Les. I have many great memories going way back to the fairground boarding days. He taught me to drive the ponies, at that time they were not hackneys and even a unicorn hitch of ponies. He was an interesting man, always had a story, dry sense of humor, I was never sure if he was serious! He always had time for this barn rat and I had a great respect for him. My sincere condolences to Linda and Barry and your families. May your memories be a source of comfort in the days ahead. I will smile when I remember him. Val Ferguson

Linda, Barry and family.
My deepest condolences on the loss of Deputy Chief Les White. He was quite a character. I am grateful for his foresight and effort in hiring the first female member of the Brandon Police Department. We did vigorously discuss the wearing of a skirt while on patrol, but, he relented, and I got to wear pants. His big smile and fairness is what I remember. His was a life well lived. Sorry for your loss.

About 45 years ago, Mr. and Mrs. White had a young girl who had recently lost her dad come to board her horse at the farm. Their kindness, generosity, and support for that girl and her mom has never been forgotten.
I have many wonderful memories of my time there.
Condolences to the family.

So sorry to hear of Les’s passing. We knew Les and Dorothy years ago being friends of both the White and Watt families. I remember Linda well as a young girl and as an owner at horse sales. My deepest condolences

As a member of the news team at radio station CKLQ for several years, I had many encounters with Sgt. White. They were most often pleasant. It was a time when the media and most members of the public appreciated and respected the job done by police officers - especially the ones like Les. I didn’t see him much after retirement, but when I did, it was always pleasant and his trademark smile was always the first thing you saw. The last time we had a visit, I was part of a group playing music at Fairview and he was there to listen. To the members of Les’ family - my condolences and a message that he was someone to be proud of and someone that I am personally proud to have known.
