As I remember Ian . . .
We met in 1984 in Brandon, Manitoba, one Saturday at The Keystone, by the pool tables. How fortunate was I to have our paths cross, to become close friends and then to share ten years together. He was kind, gentle and considerate.
“He was my best, good friend!” (quote from Forrest Gump)
Thank you for taking me in, along with three fur kids, and asking nothing in return. You kept me sane in a hurricane of uncertainty. You were my rock.
We had such fun. We traveled. We hosted dinner parties, (actually there were friends at our table more often than not).
I have so many great memories and a gazillion pictures to keep those moments alive. Ian introduced me to a quieter way of life, with no judgement, just acceptance. I met his family and friends from all walks of life who welcomed me into the fold.
Ian loved to golf, play pool, ski and spend time at the lake. He had a special relationship with my English Springer Spaniel, Lancer, then Ben and Robbie. He took great pride in, and often talked about, his grass with Neighbor Bob. His backyard was a beautiful private sanctuary; we spent a great deal of time there.
Ian tried to teach me the game of golf, I tagged along just for the fresh air and the view. And, he actually let me take his Supra for a spin! Yes, he had monumental patience!
Ian spoke often about one trip in particular: we went fishing in Lynn Lake. Just to summarize, he caught a huge Northern Pike and countless Pickerel. He complimented my folks on the first-class accommodations, and that’s funny cuz we slept in a tent with huge duct-taped lacerations (a bear had put its claws through it the week before we arrived). Then, it rained and we moved to the wood shed, but Ian loved every minute. True story.
They were a memorable ten years of my life. And then, I had to go.
Ian has a forever place in my heart.

My sincere condolences to Ian's family.
I first met Ian when we worked together during a summer break at the brewery warehouse in Brandon. From then on we maintained a lasting friendship of some 70 yrs. We would always remeniss about our hunting, fishing and ski trips during the early years. Playing pool was another competitive challenge. Those were the good old days.
Rest in peace my friend.

To Ian's Family,
It was a pleasure to chat with Ian when he was out walking with his faithful companion dog, Robbie. We already miss seeing them out together in our neighbourhood. Ian was a gentle man and will certainly be missed.
With Sympathy to Ian's Family,

Condolences to Ian's family and friends from Doug and Judy Parnell, Charleston, Nova Scotia
Ian was the nicest man to talk to. He had a great sense of humor and we enjoyed hearing his stories. He visited us in Lynn Lake when we lived there and we took him fishing. He caught a big pike that got bigger every time he told his story. He also came to Nova Scotia with our daughter, Kathy, for a visit. Ian devoured a few Atlantic lobsters and seafood platters. There was more than a few hands of cribbage played.
We will miss him.

Ian was a partner in the pool league and I really enjoyed playing pool with him. He was very good at it and was happy to teach me many sound techniques that really improved my skill. He was a very good friend. Carl Burch
