Sheldon James Empey
Sheldon James Empey passed away suddenly on Sunday, February 11, 2024 in Kelowna, BC. at the age of 32. Sheldon is lovingly remembered by parents Jim and Brenda Empey and sisters Nicole and Selena Freiheit (Jesse Hamilton). Sheldon was predeceased by grandparents Gwen and Laurie McLean, Russell Empey,
Sid Jago and brother-in-law Jeff Freiheit. Sheldon attended school at Souris, Green Acres, Harrison, Neelin and Crocus. He was involved in many activities while growing up but became easily bored with them due to his restless nature. Some of those activities were Beavers, bowling, baseball and golf to name a few. As a young adult, he loved hanging out with friends and their families, calling himself "Funcle" the fun uncle. He also loved four wheeling and fixing many of his never-ending automotive projects and raising a glass. Sheldon had many jobs. A friend joked he had more jobs than underwear. His early jobs were delivering the Brandon Sun and Domino Pizza. He attained his Class One license in 2015 following in his Dad's footsteps. He started his career with Longhorn Transport in Minnedosa. He enjoyed the friendships he made during the many miles and hours on the road. His last job was with Berry and Smith Trucking out of Penticton.
Sheldon always had a way of lighting up a room and making people laugh. His favourite stage was TikTok and Facebook. He would post funny videos while driving down the highway or telling funny Dad jokes to the servers when he was out for a meal. Through this tragedy we realized Sheldon was our Robin Williams. If only heaven had a 1-800 number so we could hear more jokes and stories from Sheldon.
A private family interment was held on Saturday, February 24, 2024 at Rosewood Memorial Gardens. Family and friends then honoured Sheldon with a tribute ride with over one hundred vehicles taking part before his Celebration of Life which was held at the Victoria Inn.
Until we meet again Bud "crank it loud and hold it down til we get there."
